The downing of a Russian Su-30SM fighter jet, with both crew members killed, marks a tangible operational loss for Moscow's air force. That this incident is distinct from the earlier crash in Kaliningrad suggests ongoing combat activity rather than isolated accidents. Each lost aircraft and experienced pilot erodes Russia's ability to sustain close air support and air superiority over Ukraine. Watch for any shift in Russian strike tactics or aircraft usage patterns in response.
