A nation that pauses the machinery of coercion between brothers has glimpsed something deeper than politics. The Gemara in Gittin (56a) tells us that the destruction of the Second Temple was sealed by sinat chinam, baseless hatred between Jews. The inverse is also true: the building of redemption is bricked by mutual recognition, even when disagreement runs deep. A temporary halt to arrests of yeshiva students does not resolve the question of shared burden, but it buys something precious: the chance for a conversation not conducted through handcuffs. Peace between brothers is not a concession; it is the vessel that can hold every other solution.
