A new study from the Israel Democracy Institute shows that religious identity continues to be the most powerful fault line in Israeli politics, with broad stability in how religious affiliation aligns with voting behavior. Between 2021 and 2022, however, the research detected specific changes worth watching. The findings underscore that coalition building and policy debates will likely remain shaped by religious-secular tensions, not just left-right ideology.
