בהיסטוריה ראשונה, שגריר ישראל נכנס לתפקידו בסומלילנד

הערכה

Israel has posted its first ambassador to Somaliland, a breakaway region that no other UN member state formally recognizes. The move gives Somaliland a degree of diplomatic legitimacy it has sought for decades, while Israel gains a foothold on the Gulf of Aden near the Bab el-Mandeb strait. Watch for whether this prompts other nations to follow Israel's lead, and how Somalia and the African Union respond.
