A new study from Harvard and Beth Israel Deaconess finds that AI models can outperform human doctors at making preliminary diagnoses, at a time when trust in the medical system is eroding. Patients are already turning to AI as a second opinion. The next important question is whether these systems will supplement clinical judgment or replace it entirely.
