Israel's water reserves are thinner than most people realize. A single desalination plant shutdown, caused by algae clogging the intake, was enough to reveal dangerously low groundwater and Kinneret levels. The algae is clearing on its own, but the underlying vulnerability remains. Watch for whether this prompts investment in additional desalination capacity or better reserve management before the next disruption hits.
