A digital archive of Moroccan Jewish cemeteries has catalogued over 33,000 graves across 38 communities, using artificial intelligence to read eroded inscriptions. The project addresses the physical decay of headstones that threatens to erase genealogical and historical records. What remains to be seen is how the platform will handle ongoing preservation as inscriptions continue to deteriorate, and whether it will expand to include other forms of communal memory.
