Un déserteur haredi frappe un policier avec le poing - et se barricade avec des dizaines d'étudiants de yeshiva

Évaluation

A violent confrontation in Beitar Illit during Simchat Torah celebrations has escalated into a standoff between police and a Haredi deserter who punched an officer and is now barricaded inside a yeshiva with dozens of students. Rabbis have instructed the group not to surrender, which raises the stakes from a single assault to a communal challenge to law enforcement. The incident also involves property damage, including a punctured police vehicle tire and a set fire. Watch for how authorities respond to the rabbinic directive, as it could set a precedent for future clashes between the Haredi community and police over military service obligations.
