Torah perspective
The defense committee chair's warning that enemies will strike on Election Day carries an old truth: the moment a people gathers to choose its direction is precisely when the other side tests its resolve. The Talmud notes that the evil inclination grows strongest against those ascending in holiness, and a nation renewing its sovereignty is ascending. Fear is not the response. Preparation is. The Torah's wars were won not by the largest army but by those who trusted that the battle is God's, while still sharpening every sword. Vigilance on a day of decision is itself an act of faith: we do the guarding, and we know Who guards us. The ballot and the watchtower belong to the same service.
