The tension between military might and the pursuit of peace is not a modern diplomatic dilemma. It runs through the soul of Israel like a lifeline. The prophet Zechariah resolved it: 'Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit, says the Lord' (Zechariah 4:6). Military strength defends the body of a nation, but only the divine spirit within it gives meaning to that defense. Israel was not reborn to be merely a formidable war machine but to be a light to the nations. A bee, or any prop, cannot replace the foundational calling: to manifest justice, mercy, and trust in God on the world stage. True peace flows not from deterrence alone but from the inner conviction that our strength is a vessel for something higher.
