Torah perspective
When Hamas leaders reportedly considered violating commitments to disarm, the issue is not merely diplomatic. The Torah teaches that a covenant made in bad faith carries no binding moral weight. A promise intended to be broken corrupts the soul of the promise-breaker more than it harms the other party. Israel's task is not to naively trust but to recognize that true peace requires a transformation of the heart, not just a signature. Until then, vigilance is not cynicism; it is faithfulness to the reality God created.
