Torah perspective
The prohibition against using the army in electioneering rests on a deeper principle: the crown of holiness must never serve political ambition. The Mishnah in Avot teaches do not make use of the crown. The army is a sacred vessel entrusted with protecting the nation. To turn its image into a partisan prop is to degrade something elevated for personal gain. Torah demands separation between holy service and partisan interest.
