Torah perspective
Three hundred young Jews from thirty-four countries leaving everything behind to serve in the army of a land many have never seen. This is not a story of escape but of embrace. The Torah calls the Land of Israel a land that 'drinks from the rains of heaven' a land sustained by faith, not by the predictable rhythms of Egypt. These lone soldiers embody the deepest meaning of the verse 'a land that the Lord your God cares for, the eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it.' They come not because it is safe but because it is home. And in coming, they remind us that the bond between the Jewish people and this land is not political but covenantal, written in the soul before it is written in any passport.
