Torah perspective
An Irish tourist in a French supermarket tells two Jewish women he is sorry Hitler did not finish the job. The words are a window into something the Torah understood long before psychology named it. The hatred of the Jew is not about what Jews do. It is about what the Jew represents: the presence of a commanding God, the demand for moral accountability, the refusal to let history be merely power. The Zohar states it as a fixed law of spiritual nature: Esau hates Jacob. Not because of any action Jacob takes, but because of who Jacob is. The response is not to explain ourselves better. The response is to know whose covenant we carry and to carry it without apology.
