Torah perspective

The olive tree's root collar survived the fire. In Torah, the olive is the tree of light, of anointing, of peace. Its ability to regenerate from the root even after the trunk is consumed mirrors the covenant: though the visible form is destroyed, the root remains. The sages teach that olive oil, pressed from the fruit, represents hidden wisdom that emerges through pressure. These ancient trees, now being shaped into bonsai, teach us that destruction is not the final word. What appears lost can be reborn in a new form, smaller perhaps but no less alive, no less rooted in the same holy ground. The fire did not reach the root.
