Torah perspective
A Jew in New York and a Jew in London face different threats, yet the same alienation. The Talmud teaches that kol Yisrael arevim zeh bazeh, all Israel are guarantors for one another. This is not a sentiment but a structure of mutual responsibility that holds the Jewish people together across time and distance. When we treat other communities as distant relations rather than family, we weaken the very vessel that holds us. The command to love your neighbor as yourself applies not only to the person next door but to the Jew across the ocean whose fate is bound up with yours. Reaching across the divide is not charity; it is survival.
