Torah perspective
Antisemitism reaches new intensity not because Jews have done something wrong, but because the world has always struggled to tolerate the witness that Jewish existence represents. The Jewish people were placed among the nations to testify that God is one, that morality is absolute, and that history has a direction. When that testimony becomes inconvenient, the world finds ways to silence the witness. The Baal Shem Tov taught that wherever a Jew finds himself, it is for a divine purpose. New York is no exception. The distress is real, but so is the calling. The response to hatred is not fear but a deepened embrace of what makes us distinct.
