Torah perspective

When violence invades a house of worship, it pierces something sacred in all of us. The Jewish community's swift solidarity with the San Diego Islamic center echoes the Torah's charge that we are all created in the Divine image, and that an attack on one community's sacred space diminishes the sanctuary of every community. The security guard who gave his life protecting others embodies the highest teaching: there is no greater love than laying down one's life for another. In a world where hatred seeks to divide us, standing together across faith lines is not merely kindness but a statement about the kind of world we insist on building.
