Torah perspective
When external hostility drives Jews back to their people, it reveals something the demographer's data only hints at: every Jewish soul carries an unbreakable bond with the Divine that no amount of assimilation can erase. The Hebrew word for Jew,, יהודי, shares a root with “thank you” (תודה), suggesting that Jewish identity is essentially gratitude, not reaction. The challenge is to build a connection rooted in love and wisdom, not only in response to opposition. Identity forged from hostility alone can fade when the pressure lifts, but identity grounded in the soul’s innate attachment to HaShem and His Torah endures through every generation.
