Torah perspective
Twelve years have passed since the kidnapping and murder of Eyal, Gilad, and Naftali, and now a million Israelis are remembering. The Hebrew phrase "עכשיו מדברים", "now they are speaking", carries a deep truth. Their souls did not fall silent. The Gemara teaches that the righteous, even after their passing, are called living. These three boys, united in their martyrdom, continue to speak through the unity they awakened in the nation. In the days approaching Shavuot, when we stand as one people at Sinai, their voices remind us that the strongest response to darkness is not hatred but the unbreakable bond of Jewish brotherhood. Their memory is a blessing precisely because it continues to speak.
