Torah perspective
A Jewish mayor governs knowing that history is watching. The new association of Jewish municipal leaders grounds itself in a tradition that did not emerge from comfort but from knowing what is at stake when government fails the people it serves. This is the Torah's vision of leadership: not power for its own sake but responsibility before Heaven and before the community. When the proclamation says 'we are each responsible for one another,' it echoes the principle of areivut, mutual accountability that binds every Jew to every other. Governing with integrity, confronting hatred, building cities that belong to everyone, this is the way of the shepherd-leader who carries the flock on his heart.
