The Torah’s command to settle the land carries with it the duty to guard what earlier generations left behind. Each artifact, each stone, each layer of earth holds a witness to the covenants made here. When Israel steps forward to protect these places, it affirms that history cannot be rewritten by neglect or design, and that the Jewish story in this land is not up for revision.
