This is the danger of a ceasefire detached from reality: it treats a malignant tumor with a bandage. The Torah's commandment to destroy Amalek is not a relic of ancient history but a living moral principle. There are forces of pure evil that cannot be contained by paper agreements, because their very existence is opposition to God's order. True peace, shalom, means the complete nullification of the will to destroy, not a pause that allows evil to regroup and strike again.
