Torah perspective
A young platoon commander falls a month before his wedding. The wedding canopy that will never hold him is the same canopy that already holds the secretes the deepest paradox of divine service: that the most intense holiness arises precisely where brokenness and joy meet. The sages taught that one who dies without children is like one day before a wedding is the very image of the lost bridegroom of God's love for Israel. But the mourners who gathered in Jerusalem were not only weeping. They were standing at the gate where this world opens into the next, and the bridegroom who cannot stand under the chuppah below becomes the one who escorts every other bridegroom to his joy above, forever.
