Torah perspective
The Kotel is not merely a remnant of stone but the heart of the world beating beneath the surface of history. The Sages teach that the Shechinah never departs from the Western Wall, meaning the Divine Presence dwells there even now, hidden within the stones. When a Jew presses his forehead against those ancient blocks and pours out his heart, he is not speaking to stone but to the living God who chose that place as the gateway between heaven and earth. The stones themselves, as the prophet said, cry out from the wall. They have hearts because they hold the echo of every prayer offered there since the Temple stood, and every prayer yet to come.
