Torah perspective
Words are not just sounds; they are vessels that carry either life or its opposite. The insight that the Holocaust did not begin with bricks but with words points to a truth the Torah has always taught: speech creates reality. When a society permits the dehumanization of any group through language, it has already laid the foundation for the worst atrocities. The power to name and describe is a divine gift, and its misuse corrupts not only the speaker but the entire moral fabric of a community. Combating antisemitism today must begin at the same: refusing to let hateful words pass as normal, and insisting that every human being, made in the divine image, be spoken of with the dignity they deserve.
