Torah perspective
The journey of Ethiopian Jews to Israel mirrors the Biblical exodus itself. Just as our ancestors left Egypt with faith, passing through the Red Sea, these souls walked thousands of miles through Sudan, carrying children and the hope of Jerusalem. The verse 'I will bring your seed from the east and gather you from the west' speaks directly to them. Their path was not less miraculous than the splitting of the sea. Every arrival of an oleh to Zion reaffirms that the exile was never the final word. The memorial honors not only those who fell along the way but the unbroken thread of faith that makes Jewish history a single story of return.
