Torah perspective
The menorah knocked down outside a Jewish center was left standing by the rabbi as a symbol of pride. This is the Chanukah secret: the menorah is placed at the doorway facing the street precisely to publicize the miracle in public space. When someone tries to extinguish that light, the Torah response is not to hide the flame but to make it burn brighter. This is 'the more they oppressed them, the more they multiplied and grew.' Attack does not diminish Jewish identity; it clarifies it. Darkness cannot overcome light when the light is kindled with purpose.
