Jewish security cannot ultimately rest on legal status granted by foreign governments. The verse "Behold, a people that dwells alone" (Bamidbar 23:9) is not a curse but a description of the Jewish soul's essential relationship with God. While practical measures like seeking protected minority status are understandable and even necessary, the deeper truth is that Jewish existence was never meant to depend on the goodwill of host nations. The prophets repeatedly warned against reliance on foreign powers. True security comes from trust in the Holy One, from Torah and mitzvot, and from the land of Israel. Legal protections are a temporary comfort, but the Jewish people's ultimate safety is covenantal, not constitutional.
