Torah perspective
A wedding in Kibbutz Nahal Oz, the first since the October 7 massacre, is not merely a happy occasion but a profound act of faith. The Sages teach that when a groom and bride stand under the chuppah, their union brings atonement and joy to the entire community. To plant a home in the very soil where darkness struck is to fulfill the verse, 'Od yishama b'arei Yehudah... kol sason v'kol simchah, kol chatan v'kol kallah', the voice of joy and the voice of the bride and groom will again be heard. This is the Jewish response to tragedy: not despair, but defiant, sacred life.
