Shabbat Aliyah: Israeli communities that make aliyah possible come together to honor new olim
As 42 congregations across Israel celebrate Shabbat Aliyah, they honor both the journeys that brought olim here and the communal spirit those immigrants bring with them.
Assessment
Congregations across Israel are turning aliyah from a bureaucratic process into a celebration of communal identity. These Shabbat events signal that absorption happens not through government policy alone but through local communities choosing to welcome. The real test will be whether the warmth extends beyond a single weekend into sustained support.
