United flight returns to airport after passenger spotted texting about hijacking aircraft
The aircraft landed safely, according to Fox 5 Las Vegas, with no injuries reported among its 150 passengers and six crew members
Assessment
A single text about hijacking forced a United flight back to its origin, showing how seriously airlines now treat even unverified threats. The quick return and safe landing avoided panic, but the incident raises questions about how crews decide to divert and what screening caught the message. Attention now shifts to the passenger's intent and whether charges will follow.
