Torah scroll from recycled bottles
Students at Kfar HaRoeh Yeshiva collected hundreds of thousands of bottles and cans over about two years and used the proceeds to fund the writing of a new Torah scroll.
Assessment
A Torah scroll funded entirely by bottle and can recycling represents a tangible intersection of environmentalism and religious devotion. The project required sustained community effort over two years, turning waste into a sacred object. This model could inspire similar initiatives that channel ecological action into religious or communal goals.
