Tel Aviv University Honors US Envoy Steve Witkoff and Hostage Advocate Einav Zangauker at Ceremony
Tel Aviv University awarded Steve Witkoff the George S. Wise Medal and gave hostage mother Einav Zangauker an honorary doctorate, alongside leading figures in science, culture and education.
Assessment
Tel Aviv University publicly linked two very different kinds of leverage in one ceremony. Witkoff, the US envoy, represents diplomatic pressure from outside. Zangauker, a hostage mother, represents the human cost that drives domestic protest. The university chose to honor both at the same event, which signals that it sees the hostage crisis as a matter requiring both international negotiation and internal moral urgency. Watch whether Zangauker uses this platform to amplify calls for a deal.
