The United States sanctions are tightening Iran's access to foreign currency, and this is starting to cripple everyday economic function. But a direct link between economic collapse and regime change does not hold. The Iranian leadership has survived decades of pressure, and a broke regime can still be a stable one. The real question is whether the economic pain will shift internal power dynamics before it sparks any political breakthrough.
