Watch: Haredi soldiers celebrate induction into IDF
A Haredi battalion broke into song and dance after swearing into the IDF at the Western Wall - while protests against the draft were underway elsewhere in Jerusalem
Assessment
A visible split in Haredi society is playing out in real time. While some young men celebrate their military service at Judaism's holiest site, others are actively protesting the very draft that brought them there. The competing images from a single city on the same day show this is not a unified community facing the state, but a community at war with itself over what religious duty demands.
