Assessment
Maccabi Tel Aviv is turning its next match into a memorial for 137 fans killed since October 7, 2023. The club will wear special shirts with a Star of David formed from the victims' names, and a memorial installation will stand outside the stadium. This is a public reckoning with loss that extends beyond sports, forcing the broader Israeli public to confront the human cost of the war through a familiar cultural institution. Watch how fans and the media respond to the gesture, and whether other clubs follow suit.
