Assessment
The Pentagon's top strategic planner was fired without explanation or a replacement, right as the U.S. positions a third aircraft carrier and thousands of troops in the Middle East. This shakeup at the highest military levels signals either internal chaos or a deliberate clearing of decks before major action. The timing, with potential strikes on Iran under active consideration, makes the silence around the dismissal especially charged. Watch for whether this removal was about policy disagreements or operational security ahead of an imminent order.
