When they connected the lists of the Arab parties, they also connected their male hierarchies. The union solved the equation of seat distribution among the parties, but did not correct the inequality.
Assessment
The new joint Arab electoral list was built by merging male dominated party hierarchies, not just voter bases. It solved the immediate seat allocation math between the factions, but left the internal gender inequality untouched. The real test is whether women will be placed in realistic slots on the unified slate.
