Chabad launches nationwide tefillin campaign on election day, promotes Jewish unity
Around 1,500 Chabad emissaries are inviting Israelis to put on tefillin, primarily near polling stations, with one emissary telling Arutz Sheva about the widespread response to the initiative
Assessment
Chabad is leveraging election day to bring a mitzvah into public space, placing 1,500 emissaries at polling stations. The reported widespread response indicates that many Israelis accept this coupling of civic duty and religious ritual. Watch whether other groups adopt similar tactics in future elections, and whether the campaign shifts turnout patterns.
