Despite pressure: Rabbi Eli Sadan expresses continued support for Ofer Winter
After Netanyahu and Smotrich visited his home to encourage Winter to withdraw from the race, Rabbi Sadan clarifies that Winter's entry into the Knesset would actually ensure a right-wing government
Assessment
Rabbi Sadan is publicly pushing back against a coordinated effort by Netanyahu and Smotrich to pressure Ofer Winter out of the political race. The visit to Sadan's home signals that top right-wing leaders see Winter's candidacy as a threat to coalition math. Sadan's counterargument that Winter would strengthen a right-wing government directly challenges that calculus. The real question is whether Sadan's backing can overcome the pressure from the prime minister and finance minister.
